This one is on its way to me.
From sunny California. A original owner 71 Formula 400 4 speed posi
car. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ef7e76d40d.jpg |

I will be asking you a lot questions to the forum.
Big shout out to Greggdog for laying eyes on it. He is a true Formula guru and someone you can trust to give an honest assessment of a car. Won’t arrive until Saturday probably as it’s coming 2000 miles. It’s a CC/Sienna deluxe interior matching numbers car… |

Nice find!

Congrats!
More details, please! |

Very Nice, I was very tempted to make an offer on that car but I decided I was better off finishing a couple of my projects in stead.
I am a bit Jealous though! Congrat's it looks awesome! |
I too was going to pass. Then, I got in touch with Gregg. He went to see car the next morning. Gave a very thorough explanation and pictures.
Again, made me want to pass. Took me the whole weekend to make an offer he accepted. The thing that hooked me was the pink slip title from the original 87 yo owner and the story that it was his wife’s car and she passed a few months ago. Little old lady from Pasadena thing…Not to mention the numbers all matched. But, it is a project. Plus it’s California clean… https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...c6191c50da.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2c044aed06.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3ea7b82cc0.jpg Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Very brave shipping with another car above it.I did that with my 69 TA and had to repaint the car when it got here.Brake fluid.Tom

I love the color combo! Looks like no gauges/tach. Can't wait to hear and see more on it!

My 72 is an Original Cal. car as well. Car looks great.

But, jambs and stuff are original paint…was repainted wrong color. But, it will be a long term project with lots of fluffing. |
Very cool car! Reminds me of a "Rockford Files" car.
|
Could have been her desire as well to paint more gold than copper? Rockford influenced fits profile.

Congrats! What a nice Formula, 4spd car!

VERY nice Formula!!
Were I in the position to collect, I'd really want to get examples of m/t backed 71 & 72 Formulas (72 would be four speed only). I am guessing that you're adding (correct me if I'm wrong on any points): Steering wheel (deluxe to Formula) Rally II's (14x7 to 15x7") Gauges (idiot lights to full gauges) are you also changing from regular to recessed wipers? I mean no offense by this comment, but it seems like everyone add the same options to these cars... I totally understand gauges though (hopefully you find a correct year dash insert to go with them). Since I cannot see the passenger side of your dash, and I don't think you shared any under hood pictures, is that an a/c car? IIRC non A/C would be a 3.42:1; Does it have a posi, or open dif? |
That's a great car. Congratulations. I like all the upgrades you're doing. I'd do the same for sure.
|
… I just noticed my small typo;
I had meant to write (because I was thinking): “I'd really want to get examples of m/t backed 71 & 72 Formula 400’s…” |
