1977 Trans Am Aux gauge bulb replacement advice
 

I was about to swap in an LED bulb behind my aux gauge (voltage/fuel gauge) cluster in my 1977 Trans Am and just wanted to clarify how to best pull out that socket without damaging it. Any tricks to it as it looks to be pressed in (not a twist in socket)?

How do you even know for sure what bulb it takes if you have not removed the socket yet?

I would assume it takes a 194 type bulb and that the socket is a round radial finger type from what you have posted, and it simply just pulls out iby means of a rocking action if trying to twist it to free it gets you nowhere.

What brand are the gauges you have there.

You could go to the manufacturers web site possibly and look at the installation manual for that gauge set and find out for sure.

Gauges are the OEM ones. Already know it takes an 1895 style bulb, which has a press in socket.

Ok good .

It should be this type of socket then that just snaps in on its metal clips while the bulb itself gets pushed in and then spun 90 degrees to lock it in the socket .
