3I/atlas

Anyone been following this chunk of rock traveling through our solar system?
The interesting things
nickel absent iron, has always been found together unless forged out
maybe a comet maybe not, does not act like typical comet ,i t is huge compared to other comets
thing was blue now turned green
the tail is pointing towards sun not away from it
outgassing has only changed its path slightly unlike other comets
it is speeding up

I don't really think much of it. However, when they called all the military top brass to washington for an unprecendented meeting, it kinda made you wonder... until Hegseth basically just told them to shape up or ship out, the days of a fat lazy US military are over.

Tough for me (and all others) to know the real telemetry, from the fake spin.

If you ask ChatGPT it sounds like nothing... FWIW.

3I/Atlas may or may not be anything special. It is just the third extra-solar comet we've observed, and the first where we can see an approach and not just a departure. The radiation from the front may be normal for these objects. (I'm something of an amateur physicist and astronomer; this stuff fascinates me. We aren't even a flea on a flea's rump in the universe. LOL)

We will simply have to wait and see (sorry for the cliche).

As for Sec. Pete: Good for him. The military needs to be fighting ready, and a bunch of ol' fat guys like me just ain't gonna cut it. I want all ground troops to be like Special Forces.

ta6point6 10-02-2025 10:33 AM

Well there has never been a object like what is being observed with 3i/atlas with a solid nickel composition not to mention the high carbon dioxide. Also the comet flying on the same plane as the planets in our solar system and flying close to three of the planets. It will be interesting to see what the satellites around Mars can pick up when it flies by.

Now on to our Military the US has ALWAYS had the best fighting force in the world and has proven itself time and time again. Our Military can be deployed anywhere and adapt to that environment and dominate. The people who have said the military is fat must have served and observed this. Please let me know about your military experience and what made you feel our Military is fat?

I didn't say the military was fat, only that it should not be. Apparently, the Secretary seems to be of the belief that there are at least some out-of-shape troops, and if that is the case, he has every right - and the obligation - to call them out on it. My statement was actually meant to be self-deprecating: I am not in shape to be defending the country, and I freely admit that. I would not want an army of "me" in that position. Nothing more; nothing less.

This isn't the clubhouse, so I won't go further except to say that my dad was a WWII Navy vet, and I have - and have always had - the highest respect for our military and admiration for those who choose to join.

3I/Atlas remains to be a very interesting object. It should be closest to Mars in a little over 8 hours, according to https://i3atlas.com/trajectory.
