Temp sensor has two connections
1 Attachment(s)
I was prepping to reinstall my radiator in my 66 2+2 when I get it back and noticed that the temp sensor had two spade connectors. I only found one wire and the wiring diagram only shows one. Is the other terminal supposed to go to ground or is the wrong one installed? I only have idiot light for temp at this time. I am on the hunt for a dash with guages to change out later on.

Sensor probably fits several years. Earlier cars had 2 lights. First was a "COLD" light that went OFF around 130 degrees. Second is a "HOT" light that you are used to. If you hook it to the wrong terminal "HOT" light will be on when you start the car. If that happens connect the wire to the other terminal.

Goatracer is right. You never know who previously replaced it with the wrong one because the kid at the parts counter said "its all we got - It should work".
Hey, I have a truck in the garage where the PO had the wire for the backup light plugged into a two terminal temp sender because it had the two spade connector. And I thought I had seen everything before. |
