A body rear coilovers - angled or vertical
 

Putting coilovers in the rear of my 70 GTO. It sees the street as well as the track. Runs low 10s.
Is there an advantage to mounting the coilovers to be vertical vs angled like the stock shocks? Stock mounting of shocks is about 20 degrees angled in at the top. The Moser rear already has nice brackets for coilovers but they are outboard on the rear creating that angle if I use them.
I get that you must account for the angle when choosing springs. At 20 degrees a 150lb/in requirement means you need a 175lb spring.
Beyond that, what is the advantage to vertical?

I'd say the angled would be if still street driving. If just racing the vertical would be better. Angled you'd have to know what spring rating to get for the angularity. (as said)

I'd also go with whatever length it would take to fit from frame to housing.
(if car is lowered not much room for tall shocks/springs?)

Thanks, John it is the car in my sig pic. Not lowered. I do want better 60' times and they guy I am working with wants to tune in my springs and recommends coilovers since there are lots of spring rates to choose from.
My street driving is only drag and drive events like Drag Week and trips around town. Not a cornering car at all.

Vertical is a little more involved for fabrication so I am asking to be sure the drag launch benefits are worth it.
