This was a first for me. Today I took the driver's door panel off my new '71 Grand Prix to work on the lock and there was the build sheet for the car stuck to the back of the door panel! I've never seen that before. I've found them under the back seat cushions, under the carpet, even on top of the gas tank but never in a door!

I sure do miss the days when I could still find stuff like that on my GTO. After almost 50 years of ownership there is nothing new left to see.

Thats where I found it for my 74 Catalina. Actually it found me. Bought it with 66,000 miles in 2006ish and some time over the next 3 years, the build sheet just showed up hanging from the door panel. Grabbed it and it slid right out without a tear or wrinkle.

sometimes you get lucky and find build sheets if nobody has been there.

I bought seats that were out of a 71 GP and the partial build sheet was still in the back seat springs. The guy thought it was trash. Car was sold in Columbus GA.

They are put different places depends on plant it was made at sometimes.

I have a 71 Grand prix and found mine under the back seat cushion. it was pretty tattered though but fun to see. options were the 455ci withTH400 and Chevy 12 bolt 3.07 gears and Black Comfort Weave seats..

Always a treat to find those. Every '70-'71 GP I've owned built at the Atlanta GA Lakewood Plant had one behind the driver's door panel. I've also found additional sheets in the back seat bottom cushion springs and driver's front bucket seat bottom sandwiched between the seat material and rear of frame where the seat release strap bolts on. Here's one of the '70 GPs with all three that I found.

All the Atlanta plant cars 70-up had them on backside of driver door panel.

That's fascinating! I had no idea these build sheets were tucked away in so many different spots. Found one in my '69 Camaro's rear seat years ago and thought I'd struck gold. Thanks for sharing this knowledge - it's details like these that make classic car restoration so rewarding! Suika Game

Apparently they're quite tasty. The mice seem to have eaten both of mine.
