Brake Dust.
What pads are you guys using to keep the brake dust down? I've replaced my front pads about 2 months ago withDuralast gold pads. My chrome wheels are black. I was thinking about a set of Power stop pads?

This is on 2021 F350

Ceramic pads of any flavor are usually low dust

Here's the low-down, based on personal experience with my 2006 STS-V:
Like all of us, the brake dust thing was killing me trying to keep my wheels clean. The STS-V has these massive Brembo calipers, and of course, larger pads mean more dust. Ugh. I switched to ceramics - BUT - I told my local shop (there was a practical reason I didn't make the swap myself: I was short on "extra cars to drive" at the time) that they had to at least scuff the rotors, even if they did not appear scored, in order to clean off the bonded metallic surfacing of the old pads to allow the ceramic to bond properly. Unfortunately, my instructions were ignored (cut rotors? who does that anymore? egad...). As a result, I have an incessant squeal from my brakes. One of these days, I'm just going to pull them all apart and drive my rotors to my friend's shop and cut them. So, if the switch is done correctly, you will be ultra-satisfied (stopping is great, so no complaints from an operational perspective) and you'll never go back to metallics on anything. |
I've run Akebono ceramics on my BMWs for the past 20 years. No dust, pads last 100-150,000 miles and the rotors never seem to wear. I sold a 2002 X5 with 389,000 miles on it that had 320,00 miles on the rotors. Pedal pressure is a little higher than OEM, but they're unaffected by water and heat.

I guess I'll try the power stop kit. Let you know how it goes.
|
+2 on the Akebono pads. Best street pad out there. I changed the pads on my 2021 F350 the first week I had it. Wheels stay clean.

Power Stop has been one of the most consistent in recent years, great quality and what I’ve been using since Centric stopped being available locally, go for ceramic pads and fully coated rotors for low noise, brake dust has been minimal as well on all of my vehicles since switching about 4 years ago.

I’ve been using NAPA Adaptive 1’s for about the last 15 years specifically because of brake dust issues with other brands. Happy so far

Here are my wheels.

So are you guys still using factory style rotors or drilled and slotted?
|
I'm still factory style. Every pair of slotted and drilled I've used has warped prematurely. I just stick with the factory. Your experience may differ.

Factory here too
