EDP vs silver weld through primer?
 

I am wondering if anyone has an opinion to offer;
I am looking at buying some more panels, and am seeing some of the parts offered with either EDP coating or silver weld through primer.

The silver weld through primer looks to be about a 24% upcharge on the same part.

Thanks in advance for anything you might be able to offer in thoughts or experience.

Buy the EDP the a spray bomb of weld thru primer you on ly spray it ob the seam your welding...some weld thru will wipe off with water

Wurth or 3m is best but ...nozzles clog easily so follow instructions. They work..I sell welders for a living 25+ years...no copper coat it's got longevity issues..I've seen the whole development and life cycle of it all

The panels with weld through primer are a gimmick. During the plandemic I was forced to buy panels with Weld-thru coatings just to get sheet metal for projects. We washed it off with lacquer thinner to get down to bare metal. You NEVER want to prime or paint over weld-through primers, so avoid panels coated with that stuff.
And don't trust EDP coatings either. They will sometimes have rust hidden under them. Even the well known company with three initials is not immune to that problem.

Unless you're using a spot welder don't use weld-thru. Do not use with mig or tig welder, in those cases you want clean bare metal. If you don't believe it try it both ways, you'll see the difference immediately.

I gave up on Weld through primers along time ago.

They suck.

Just get some fluid film spray behind those welds ..

Remove some plugs ..or drill some small access holes to get the fluid film in there.

Then use some 2 part seam sealer ..to cover up that access hole
