78 TA Hood Latch Assy Color
 

Replacing hood latch on a 78 SE. Replacement assy is zinc plated. Should it be painted black before install or leave it plated (i.e., silver)?

Gray phosphate. No black. SE doesn’t matter, all the same.

The hood latch body is the grey phosphate color that can look black'ish... but the moving parts inside were a gold cadmium plated color from the ones Ive seen. Kind of like the restored ones Norwood was doing. I have a couple nice originals that have the plated moving parts still visible, will post a pic when I can.
