HFwinch cable fraying. Replaced with nylon???

I was using my new 5k winch to move some engines in my garage to prepare for concrete. The cable has some frays in places,I got pinched even with gloves. Should I replace the cable with say nylon strap type and replace the roller fare leads. Any experience with nylon or equivalent?

Just buy a new long drum
wireless remote control winch
with nylon braided line installed.

I have replaced the wire rope on HF winches with synthetic rope and it works fine.

Did you buy the HF synthetic rope and the metal lead into the winch? I guess the rollers for the wire arent good for the synthetic rope.

Synthetic rope on my warn winch here. No issues and no finger pokes

Use Spectra, super strong and virtually no stretch. My Davit had it and lifted the fiberglass dingy on the boat.Tom

We used some rope we bought from Amazon on the trailers that we lift 500 and 1000 gallon propane tanks with daily. Sometime the tanks have varying amounts of propane in them. No problems here.

Noticed the same thing after the second use in my winch. I guess that's cheap Chinese stuff for ya.

Thanks guys. I never thought you could screw up wire rope. I have a HD hand winch made in USA well known co,gezz cant think of name. Any way I've had it for about 40 yrs.ive used it when self employed on construction. Funny no broken wire on full length maybe one or two at hook. I guess you cant expect anything from china to be good. I looked at warn, off readers said HF good soooo. .thanks guys
