Fuel Filter and Throttle Return Spring ?

I bought a Wix 33044 fuel filter and 2 throttle return springs (Yellow and Blue) from AMES. I have a couple of questions and asking for clarification

1. It looks like the fuel filter came with a paper element or gasket attached on the inlet side. Do I need to add another gasket like the dark one AMES sells with the spring or is the light-colored paper element the gasket? I have the spring and will install that. I think the original ACDelco filter element was a stone colored type with different material and did not have the filter and that is why a separate gasket is offered.

2. For a stock 1972 Trans Am setup (original quadrajet etc), which is the correct throttle return spring. I have both the yellow and blue versions. I thought the blue spring may be for a tri-power set-up but I am not sure.

Thanks, Mike.

I believe the springs go on together. I heard it was a safety thing if one broke. I don't think you need the gasket. The filter, paper, is inside the long housing. The stone filters, were the shorter ones and I always heard were not as good from a performance aspect as the paper ones.
