Pump Gas 535 Dyno & Track Results
3 Attachment(s)
Thought I'd share with this group the results of my 535 pump gas build. I spent over a year building this engine with support from many people on this board and suppliers. Really happy with how it turned out and wanted to say thanks to the Pontiac community! Here's some info:
535 MR1A, 430cfm KRE Hi Ports, Ported BOP intake, 11.9:1 compression, proprietary camshaft. This combination made 861 hp propelled my 3100 pound 68 Bird to 9.17 @ 149mph at Rock Falls, Wisconsin in 1000DA. I know there is a Pontiac N/A pump gas list that is maintained by someone on this board. Please IM me what you need to post this on that forum for sharing. Lots of attention to details as you all know. Let me know if I can answer any questions in the spirit of advancing our hobby! |
Fantastic results. You have every reason to be proud. Lots of hard work right there.
I know you cant give cam specs. But living at 11.9-1 CR, I am sure a lot of thought was put in that cam choice. |

I can dig up the details of the cam used on this build that ran this number for those who might be interested.
511 cid 14.2 to 1 Ported early E round ports . Reworked Victor 1150 Holley Don 3250 lb 67 GTO. This was the best low 9 run the car / combo ever had. |

Twelves really aren't impressive for a 511.... Lol That's a good runner! |

I have that car on my list as #3. But have it as a 505 ci and 3200#. Which numbers are correct? http://www.magneticlynx.com/carfor/pont_gas.htm Thanks, Stan |
Great results with that build. Obviously, your knowledge, research and planning show in the performance.

Your info is better than my memory Stan.
I was thinking of another buddy’s stroker BBM. |
Damn nice, pump gas huh, what timing did it like without hearing the woodpeckers come out?
It was crazy to see your peak torque at 5800rpm on a Ponti. Very specific built and great numbers. |
Nice job!
Very stout, great job with that engine combo. Congrats!!

Thanks for all the comments and support. Timing was at 37 degrees. Torque peak was around 5700 rpm. Converter stall is at 6200 so engine never sees that RPM at load thus reducing the chance of detonation.
