O.T. Based on The Response....Santa Done Good!

Hello Everyone,
My friends & many of my customers here on the forum know of our battle with my Wife's stage 4 breast cancer that had metastasized to her back, subsequent spine surgery, months of wheelchair time, then walker, cane & rehab. After a year & a half she is back to driving & walking very well & we are WINNING the battle as the original tumor has been shrinking as shown on each 3 month scan! She loves our hobby, the cruises & shows, so I figured this was the year I get her one of her own! The 57 T-Bird was one of the two she liked the best, the other is a late 50's Desoto Conv in red of course, but that is a little big for her. I had been hiding this car in my enclosed trailer since just after Thanksgiving & could not wait until Christmas, so I could give it to her! She stays at our "in town" house as she can't drive the long distance from this house to work each day ( I drive back & forth the 100 mile round trip 3 or 4 times per week), so I had the car sitting in front of the house with a big bow on it before she woke up Christmas morning! Between the tears, smiles & laughter....I think she loves it! LOL She drove it around the neighborhood with the bow still on it honking & waving to neighbors like she was in a parade 57 T-Bird 312 4bbl auto. Power Steering, seats & windows. Aftermarket air & front disc brakes. It is a clean Texas car that had been in Ohio for the last two years. Of course since we live in Ohio, I will be storing it with mine until spring. I also have a feeling we will be taking it to Lloydfest IV in '26.:p God Bless Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...closed.614419/ |

Thank You Everyone from the bottom of my heart for the kind, uplifting comments & prayers for Laura & I.
Also the P.M.'s offering support & prayers as well! Laura's "Baby Bird" is covered & stored along side the XLR-V in the house garage for the rest of the winter, because unfortunately we live in Ohio. Spring is Coming though!!! God Bless & Happy New Year. Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...closed.614419/ |
Congratulations to you and your wife on her recovery. The new car appears to be helping to cheer her up.
When I was about ten years old, one of my neighbors had a red 2-seat T-bird. It wasn't drivable, but he would let me and a couple of other neighborhood kids sit in it. Be thankful she kept a positive attitude through her trials. Getting older isn't for wussies. I've been fighting a few ailments of my own lately, but they're not nearly as severe as what she went through. I looked up an old friend I hadn't talked to since last year to wish him a Merry Christmas, and found out he passed away a couple of months ago. |
God bless you a your wife. Great post, made my day.

Yes, great post, and thank you for sharing
you must have been busting on the inside keeping it a secret |
Thanks Guys,
Yes! It was tough to not give it to her sooner. It sat in the trailer, inside the shop from the Monday after Thanksgiving until Christmas Morning. I was blessed that the weather was clear on Christmas, so everything worked out. She is currently trying to think up a name for it & already reserved the spot in the trailer for our favorite get together/car show in September (LLOYDFEST IV with the HAMB Group):p God Bless Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...closed.614419/ |
