Looking for a T-56 rebuilder.

I broke my T56 and I don't have any confidence in the shops I've talked to here in Portland so it's looking like I will have to ship it out for repairs. It's behind a 500lbft engine and sees the drag strip half a dozen times a year.

Thanks in advance.

You should check with Modern Driveline here in Idaho.

They helped me with some parts I needed for my T56, toured their shop,….really a top notch company from what I have experienced.

They are just gearboxes. It’s not like an auto. I would trust anyone who does normal manual builds to rebuild one really.

That said, for extra power I talked to most of the big names at PRI a couple of years ago. And the general advice I got was to just buy an out of the box magnum if you want increased power capacity. Though to be fair I was looking at more like 700 ftlbs not 500.

There are lots of good options though if you want to go outside your area. Liberty gears. Tick performance, modern driveline to name a few.

Thanks everyone for the leads!

I talked to Modern and Ticks and was trying to decide which way to go when a friend called me after seeing this thread. He pointed me to a fairly local guy and armed with the knowledge I gained from my conversations with the other vendors we came to a deal and the transmission is at his shop now.
