67 Firebird Tail Panel Install
 

I probably shouldn’t be trying to install the Tail Panel, but I figured Id give it a shot. I have the gaps closed up pretty good but the passenger side has a big ugly gap and I’m not sure how to close it up anymore.

Driver side could use a little more but I could live with it the way it sits now.
Can anyone give me any tips on how to get the gaps closed up more. The body lines look lined up correctly so pushing the tail panel higher into the corner may mess with the body lines.
Anyways, has anyone had to deal with this? Have any tips!

Yes I love that guy. Unfortunately he had new quarter panels so I’m guessing the panels line up a lot better.

How does the trunk gaps look? Does the 1/4 need to come in any more?

Trunk gaps are roughly 1/4” all the way around.

I was messing around with it today. Squeezing the quarter panels with a ratchet strap and I got the passenger corner really close but there was so much tension. If I tack welded the flanges I’m sure it would not hold it.

After adding the ratchet straps and squeezing them together, the gap on the passenger side changed to about 3/16” and the driver side stayed at 1/4”.
