Dual or single carb intake?

I am building a stroker 462 with aluminum heads for a gasser I am building for street strip use. I was wondering what intakes you guys use? Should I go with a dual carb or single carb setup? What works better?

I've run a victor with a 1050 dom and a wensler with two 4150 carbs
Both seam to be about the same in my world. Others might chime in
and give there results too. The two-four motor was a 440 and the
dominater motor was a 462. I gota say the two 4 motor is impressive.

Was this on the same engine, just different intakes? Or was this two separate engines? If so, what was the differences between them beside intake and carbs

Gasser? Run a bathtub intake, it’ll look awesome!

OFFYL Dual QUAL (dual Spreadbore for me) seemed quite responsive. And the low height with center-divider design is not shabby.

Way lighter and lower than a Wenzler Dual Quad.

There was a recent run of Bathtub intakes that even take late model heads!
Gasser has to have dual quads at least. Maybe a Warrior TR.

Great to see that. Lotta intakes I see don’t fit late model heads.

56 star chief custom Catalina. Previous owner was planning on doing a quick flip on it and put a 350 Chevy in it, yuck! So I got it and have not had the time or room to take the front end sheet metal off to start getting the straight axle under it. Going to do a front plate mounted 400/462 from the 400 coming out of our 67 GP this coming weekend.

Can you fit an Hei with an offenhauser? Does an Hei fit with any of these dual quads?

I have a stock Pontiac HEI and I was considering a DUI. Guessing the DUI won’t fit? Is it enough of a clearance issue where you can’t just notch out the intake a little?

Stock size pontiac dizzy works fine.Tom

Two complete different motors.
462 11:5:1 eddy heads solid roller victor and 1050 dominator.
(428) 440 eddy heads wenzler TR two 750 carbs 10:65:1 Allum rods
Both motors make close to 650 hp and are pump gas motors, see a lot
of street driving and drag-n-drive fun.

Your car will be cool when ready to run! Looks great. Stock HEI is going to be a big PIA to run with any 2X4 intake on a Pontiac IMO. I would recommend running a stock Pontiac Points dist. or an old transistor ignition dist. to trigger an MSD box. Or a small bowl aftermarket distributor. Several brands available. If you can swing it, the Bathtub intake would look absolutely awesome in that car! I have run the old warrior intakes, the Wensler Gutsram, and the Offy 2X4 intakes. They can all be tuned to work fine in a gasser style car. A bathtub wins the best of show award. An Offy 5149 would be the least expensive by far. Good luck with it.

I want to think I have an HEI in the motor I have my Warrior TR on

Id like to run an HEI if I can, I'll have to look around and see what I can do.
