'64 Hood Scoop Hardware
I've recently acquired a GTO hood and scoops for my 64 LeMans. But there was no hardware for the scoops. They're painted (thankfully!), but there's no bolts.
I read on here that they might be studs with a nut at the bottom? I just checked the Ames catalog and didn't see where you could just order the hardware. Does anyone know what exactly I need and/or where to get it? The scoops I have appear to have threaded holes. Not sure if I could just do a bolt? Thanks! |
Factory hood scoops used studs with nuts that had attached washers that look like spurs (for riding horses - I don't know the name of that type of washer). They also used some kind of sealant (seam sealer maybe) around the perimeter. I can post a picture if that would be helpful.
Not sure where to buy the hardware. Maybe AMK? |

Here is a picture of one (not to scale). I can get some measurements if you want more information.

Thanks for the replies! Looks like coarse thread for sure. I think I might get some bolts and put a nut about halfway down. Especially if I can't find the exact piece. I would take some measurements please, especially for total length. I can probably take a scoop into the hardware and find the right width.

Seems to be a 10x20x5/8, or possibly 10x24x5/8.Nut is 3/8.

Perfect, thank you!!

They are 10-24 studs with hex nuts and the washers pictured. Nothing special.

I always referred to those washers as starlock washers. Either internal or external.

I found some 10x24 bolts in my garage and cut them down to size. I don't have the right washers yet, but I installed them for now. Looks good! Thanks again.
