Power Products connecting rods from Competition Products
Any one ever use Competition Products house brand parts, particularly their connecting rods? I wonder, with most of the commonly used rods (Scat, Eagle, etc.) being forged in China, what's the harm using these? https://www.competitionproducts.com/...T77%2D8680022/
Any one ever see how cheap Speedmaster rods are? |
Is that the brand Ace Brewer sold?
|
Everything hinges on intended HP level and rpm which you did not state.
|
The same 600 to 900 hp range these rods are typically used.
|
They have ARP 2000 bolts so I would say its a Yay
|
That price is not all that cheap. For a few more bucks you can get some Molnars and not worry about a thing.
Speedmasters ? Way cheap, I would be worried about fake ARP bolts. So you save a few bucks on the rods but i bet the big end is tight like every other China rod I have used. Then you might want to get some actual ARP bolts so the costs add up even more. |
Unless you absolutely need the L19 bolts I would stay away from them.
There have been confirmed reports of them breaking even before the motor gets fired ! |
I have always been a firm believer in you get what you pay for!
Unfortunately, these days the Pontiac market keeps getting smaller, and the good manufacturers are making less of it to survive! At my age, I have plenty of good blocks to rebuild. I have a scatt stroker crank and often look for a set of good rods, and they sure aren't as plentiful as they used to be!! |
