Late model bathtub installation trouble
 

The alternator hits the intake overhang. Are there any specific accessory brackets that need to be used?

A first gen Firebird bracket may work with a slightly longer belt. The firebird bracket has the ability to move the alternator closer to the driver side fender, away from the intake casting.

Thanks for the reply. Isn't the early Firebird a two piece bracket with one going from w/p to alt and the other from t-stat to alt? I guess I could try to fabricate something for the rear mount. I'm having evil thoughts about just separating the water crossover and calling it done. Although cutting up a nice $2500 intake was not the plan.

It just needs to be up a little bit to make it work?

I'd cut that slotted piece off and add a section of metal to extend the curve more. (up)

If it needs more than a little, possibly try an extension bracket/piece on the bottom hole mount to rotate the bottom up?
(swivel the bottom of alternator up)

That's a good idea, thanks. I think the bottom "pivot" will be okay, just need to extend the slotted piece about 6 inches. Gotta love old hot rods!

This is the first issue that has been brought up to us.Will let John know.

Besides that issue it looks like that fan is so close to the radiator that it’s blocking off 60% of the total rad area .

I've got about 1 1/4" clearance between the water pump and fan motor.
Not much room in a 37.

Technically speaking, yes it's 2 pieces. However I've run only the arm from the water pump for over a decade with no issues.

This is a good suggestion. You could run it in between your alternator and A/C pump (assuming they share the same belt). It can be difficult to get a straight shot with a rod linkage. You can make an extension bracket to come up from the water pump if necessary.

Funny. I read late model bathtub(figuring home bathtub) install what's that doing in street! I havent got to mine yet, now I'm a where. I'll need to pull all my brackets out.

Mp , this is a simple bracket I made up for my 69 firebird. Very stiff even compared to the original. PITA 2 piece .Maybe something similar will solve your problem. And the turnbuckles are dirt cheap on Amazon

I could make it myself for a 3rd the price or less. MSRP of 400 $............. nuts.

Agree with JLMounce. The alternator brackets for a 67 Firebird are long and puts the alternator in front of the valve cover. Depending on your pulleys you would have to get the alternator to line up or you would need pulleys to line up with the alternator. Depending on the diameter of your pulleys you would have to find a correct length belt.

Just grind the intake to get the clearance.
