radiator fit
I'm swapping in a 428 for my 350. I am going to put a new radiator in.
Any thoughts on which radiator are the easiest direct fit? Thoughts on cooling needs for the 428? For some reason I know the fan shroud will be an issue. We will see. |
I use a cold case direct fit radiator. It's been good to me over the years. I use a Flex-a-Lite Black Magic 180 electric fan and it cools my 580hp 465 decently. It'll creep a tiny bit if I'm stopped at a lite in 90+ degree heat, but never to the point of overheating.
If you're worried about making sure the system is up to the task, I'd do an LS conversion Cold Case direct fit. That gets you the big tubes in the cold case radiator along with a dual pass design. You'll need to run the water neck to the passenger side though. Then use one of Fast Monty's shrouds with either the 12" ProForm fans or 12" SPAL's. That combination should keep things cool, with AC, in the summer without issue. https://fastmontysgarage.com/product...r-raw-aluminum |
FYI,I used my original factory 350 Radiator with 428s and 455s with no issue.Had a factory shroud and a flex fan on the small A/C top pulley and stock bottom.Might try it before you go the a expense that might not be needed.FWIW,Tom

Call the salesman at Cold Case and see what they recommend.

It is barely cooling the 350. I’ve seen some advertised as oem fit but I never really trust that. |
