1975 Ventura 8.5 Rear End Swap
Found a 1975 Ventura 8.5 rear to swap for my 68 Firebird. Planning the swap in the following order and wanted additional direction if I missed something…
Remove brake hose, e-brake cables, and driveshaft. Remove rear spring plates and lower shock mounts. Hoping to remove rear spring shackle bolts and drop the rear end and rear springs down (leaving front springs attached) and roll the rear end out the rear of car. Reinstall in reverse order to include have driveshaft shortened. Is this possible? The rear spring shackle bolts look like a very tight fit… |
a lot quicker to use a floor or trans jack to raise rear a couple inches, slide it over about a foot
lower down one end of rear end to go under that spring. Alternate is to rotate rear end 90* while on jack so it can be dropped down between springs I would suggest having help. I have that same rear G80,GU6. I will change mine to disc brakes |
Like Cammer 6 says. If pulling one end of the springs out, inspect the bushings.
