1962 Pontiac high performance parts?
 

In the mid-1980s, I picked up a bunch of 1961-1963 high performance Pontiac parts from a guy who raced. I got NOS SD421 rods, SD389 block, 1962 & 1963 SD421 heads, etc. I sold most of it to Randy Williams.

I was cleaning up the basement and found an old generator with what appears to be a deep-groove aluminum pulley. Is there anything special about this generator or pulley? The p/n is 1102304, and I think the date code is 2A10. I think it came out of the batch of early high performance parts I bought.

I used to have a 1962 GP with a SD421 engine in it. It appears to be the same generator? Anybody have a picture of a regular 1962 Pontiac generator?

The pulley and fan is what would be worth some money.Tom

According to 1966 Pontiac Chassis Parts Catalog, 1102304 was replaced with 1102168. The 304 part has no detail in the book, but the 168 is listed as "1959-62 All (30-35 amp)".

I'm trying to figure out if this generator is unique to high performance cars and has any value, or if it's scrap metal. Is it worth putting on EBAY? I'm cleaning out the basement.

I would be interested in that fan and pulley for my 62 SD clone. PM me if interested in selling those. The entire generator is heavy and I imagine expensive to ship. Thank you.

I'm sure if it had any super duty pedigree, Randy would have taken it also........JMO.

When I bought the SD421 stuff, I hauled home a 6x10 trailer behind a Suburban, with both packed. There were multiple tripower engines with air cleaners, 4-spds, NOS 8-lug hubs, etc. I sold a lot of it not long after I drug it home, but I kept the SD389 & 421 stuff for about 10 years before Randy came along. A lot of it was boxed up, so Randy never saw the generator. I didn't know if there is anything special about it, so I was hoping the early SD guys would chime in. I originally advertised NOS 63 8-lug hubs. Randy found out I had the early SD stuff, and wanted it. We ended up trading a lot of 73-74 SD stuff he had for my early stuff. He later got the red 62 GP in the photos.

I think that fan and pulley will work on a 63 alt.The fan looks the same as was put on the 63 326 alt.They show up on ebay often.Tom

I don't have a good picture of my regular 1962 generator. I can post a pic tomorrow. They don't look anything like what you have. They look like a regular fan and pulley you would find on a GM alternator. An open blade design. That's why I am interested in what you have.

I also picked up two pieces of NOS rocker trim that I have no idea what it fits. The guy I got all this from raced 1961 to 1963 Catalina & GP. He also had early Tempests. I'm going to post some pictures of them to see if anyone can identify them. I don't think they are big car.

Your gen appears to be a typical 62 with possibly a 63 SD pulley, depending on the diameter it could also be a Chevy or Ford deep pulley.

A 62 SD Gen is #1102327.

I have interest in the pulley depending on the diameter if you decide to sell.
