Pontiac parts catalogs
 

I'm interested in the Pontiac parts catalogs, two volumes.

I see several on eBay. Is that the only place to find them?

Second question: there is a 1979 version and 1983...is older better or doesn't matter?

Ideally you want a MPC (Master Parts Catalog) within a few years after your model year. Part numbers are often dropped or succeeded with a newer number/part in later years.
While not mandatory you would also want an Illustrated MPC to help search for the correct part. Many of the reproduction catalogs do not include the illustrations.

Thanks Ed. The pictures I attached are not the MPC? Showing two volumes, one says "chassis and body parts" and the other says "illustration catalog".

It's the same. What year are you searching for?

My 68 MPC has parts dating back to the 1930s. Since it was an MPC from a dealer, it has updated pages throughout the 68 model year.
I also have a 70 MPC but it's not illustrated and some of the part numbers found in the 68 MPC had been superseded by newer ones

My car is a 1967, so I was hoping to find the MPC closest to that year. So far, the closest I found on eBay is a 1979 set. I did come across a person in Canada selling reproduction 1969 sets but super expensive at $400 for a 3-book set.

68 or 69 would be a good year MPC for a 67 car.

Was that Canadian $?

Looks like USD to me. I think eBay makes it pretty clear when it's Canadian dollars. The body and chassis set is $200 and the illustration book is $200.

He (the seller) mentioned the advantage of reproduction is sometimes used sets have missing pages and often have mold in them.

Hit the swaps. So you can look through it, a lot are missing pages. And you gotta get one to cover your year car.

Then there’s the Pontiac binder, most don’t have. I think I paid $35 for both, 30 for the binder. And it’s the good one.
