Route 66 is only 75 years old. But that's okay, it was still a neat thing to do.

Route 66 was commissioned as a US Highway in 1926. We visited the Pontiac Museum and the Route 66 Museum (same building) in December and January.

Drove about every mile in Illinois, starting at the beginning in Chicago in our 41' diesel pusher. Took 13 days, and that was off-season when many places were closed.

Many stretches of the original 16' wide pavement are still laid, either still in use or alongside newer pavements from the 30s and 40s.

That gas was Jan 3 about exit 30 or so on I-55.

PS I've turned the last 2 pictures a couple times and they just won't sit properly on here.
