Can anyone identify this Pontiac part?
 

I am stumped by this one. Pretty sure it's for a 1973 Firebird. It was among hundreds of NOS parts I used to put a car back together. Just sorting through what's left as this project nears completion. I couldn't find it in the assembly manual, on the car or in the service manual. What's your best guess?

Window regulator part.
I believe it's a stop point for the window.

Amazing how did they engineer, design all those parts? The stamping dies, the coatings etc. I read about technology in WWII just amazes me also. Now have no idea.

Any possibility this little piece is a battery holdown clamp used in the bottom of a battery tray? It sort of has that look. Would not be a Firebird part if that's the case? The mystery continues.

Window regulator part is a possibility. There were some regulator parts among the huge stash of parts for the car. I also thought some sort of line clamp for fuel/vapor lines along the frame or floor. But couldn't find a place for it in person or in the assembly manual.

I've had many 2nd gens apart, and I dont recognize that part. The steel looks relatively thick, so I dont think it be to hold any lines.

Radio shaft mount.

Backside of the striker for the door latch ?

Looks like a cage nut for attaching a body panel. Perhaps in the fender for hood hinge attachment? Spare tire hold down attachment?

Have some good and interesting guesses on this little gizmo. The radio support is interesting. Have to look into that. I will post some dimensions in the next day or two. That might help. The hole in the middle is not threaded. So that eliminates the striker backing or a cage nut type deal. Interestingly, it was in a box that contained some of the jack and spare hold down stuff, but I couldn't find a place for it. This car had a conventional spare tire and I have all the parts installed without this part. Wonder if it's a piece for the space saver set up which this car doesn't have?

Here are some dimensions on this little bracket. Thanks for the input. Not too concerned about it because I really can't find a place for it on this 73 Firebird. But the previous owner purchased hundreds and hundreds of NOS parts for this car in the late 1970's when dealers still had stock on many, many parts. So it must have caught his attention when he was looking to order everything that was still available. Thanks and happy guessing. From the pics you can see it's a pretty stout little piece. About 1/8" thick. The pass through hole looks to be for a 5/16" bolt.

I lean towards a hold down for a pair of tubes, possibly associated with the fuel tank stovepipe or A/C hardlines. Brackets we used on the underside of the car were typically zinc plated. But if they were above the floorpan level, or especially underhood, then they would be black oxide coated.

The small tabs are definitely meant to keep the bracket oriented in a certain alignment, and the formed diameters certainly look to match a tubing profile.

I agree. I never considered an AC only car. I will look more carefully at the AC pages in the assembly manual.
