Needs some parts - currently sourcing - man are they expensive!! $650 for a fuel tank and sending unit, $2500 for an NOS grille - 3D printed are $1500!

Sweet! The shadow mask is so cool. Not sure I've seen a special order interior car yet.

I had - and am still having - sticker shock with my car as well. I swallowed the $700 fuel tank pill recently, too. As I've learned the hard way, these cars are so expensive to bring back due to the relatively few that are out there. Those simulated sidepipe rockers you have are over $1000 vs. $180 for a set of '68 GTO rocker trim. Even smaller things like sill plates, seat trim, and armrests are $100/ea. The best scores I've had have been from folks in the AMC community who typically price things more sensibly and are willing to help others out just to see another one back on the road.

I have some 68-69 AMX parts that came along with the car. I can take inventory and send you pics if you are interested. I know there are at least 3 arm rests, 2 radio speaker panels (with AMX tags), 2 black upper door panel - metal part, and some interior trim - black.

The door panel top rails are needed for new door panels since they come unassembled. I had to round up a set. The '68-'69 wood dash inserts go for decent money if they're in good shape. I just had ours restored. Looks like a '68-early '69 gauge bezel which won't fit a '70 dash. Exterior trim and window hardware is generally transferrable from '68-'70. '70 bumper is unique. Seats switched to high backs in '70. Not sure if they're the same as '71-'74.

I always rolled my eyes at Pontiac owners who said they had an early build that used previous year parts. That didn't happen in the GM world, but there were a ton of running changes to AMCs. There are like 3 or 4 different dash bezels used in '69 alone.

In 1970 after we got out of Navy training in Lakehurst NJ my best friend and I road in the back seat of a 1969 AMX to Syracuse NY. We were both 6'4'' tall, I'll never forget how uncomfortable we were. But it was a cool car.

Being AMX's do not have back seats, it had to be extremely uncomfortable. You sure it wasn't a Javelin?

I'm sure, we had to endure only 25 miles with of us back there then I rode the rest of the way alone.
