I knew the family had decided to sell it a year or so after Don had passed and I lost track of where it went. Good to see it again.
I do miss Don but glad his GTO lives on. RIP Buddy. Link to you tube recent vid of the GTO. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=we0B090voRk |
The chin spoiler, was that an attempt to improve cooling?

No it was just something he made and would install depending on his mood.
He kept that '65 running top notch and I can't recall him ever mentioning temp issues. He had it set up to go on and off in a few minutes. I guess when you own something that long you tend to add personal touches, such as those pointed out in the video. IIRC he was a NASCAR fan so that might be related?? He was a character. :D |
Fantastic car! That shop looks pretty impressive (Marvin's Motor City Garage). Does anyone have any experience with them?

100 % original unrestored 1 owner GTO with all the documentation.
To me what's most amazing is how much he drove and enjoyed it all those years! Why his son/family didn't want to keep it was beyond me, but I get it. Found another old shot showing it in "NASCAR" mode, with open side pipe exhaust. I wish I had copied his photos from back in the day when he shared them, The ones that blew my mind were from a time when he road raced a Porsche and used the GTO to tow it to events. Like I said he was a Character :D |
