79 TA Q Jet Rebuild kit?

I have a 79 TA with a Pontiac 400 and 4 speed. Sometime in 89 my dad replaced the original carb with a remanufactured Q jet, it ran fine with that carb. It’s time to rebuild it, any recommendations on a rebuild kit?

Thanks!

Kurt

Call Cliff Ruggles at Cliff's Hi Performance and get your kit. Best available and very complete. Rubber parts that are actually alcohol resistant not just a bunch of words. He will need your carb. Number. Kits come with a new float. 740-397-2921. No instructions are included.

Since your ordering parts be sure to check the play of the throttle shaft on the drivers side .

Be aware, if it is a mass re manufactured carb it could have lots of issues that cant be fixed.
Might want to look for a good factory core to start with.

I havent been able to get on Cliffs site for a few days.
I sure hope that is not 'gone'

I ordered some Tri-power floats and accelerator pumps on Monday by phone. Received in 2 days USPS yesterday. Not sure about his web site. But he is selling parts. Best time to reach him by phone is in the AM Eastern time. His wife did say he was just returning from vacation.

I agree on reman's being a mix of parts often.

I think you will like his book. I got one for Fathers Day last year. I thought I knew a fair amount about Q-jets prior to receiving the book. I have had both the Doug Roe Rochester books for decades. But I learned some new and interesting things in the Ruggles book. Very well organized and good visuals. Good luck with your carburetor.

I rebuilt a raman carb with Cliff's kit. Had problems, Cliff helped me, still had problems. He told me he tries to avoid these carbs. I got another carb, made it work.
