Hybrid Coil overs

How many of you all using hybrid coil overs. Top of spring fits in stock spring pocket. Pros cons?

I have been pretty vocal against them in the past. I have now for about 9 months been running a set of QA1 Pro Coils.

What I like:
They ride really well and it was fairly easy to dial in my ride height precisely. They are definitely an easier overall install than traditional coil springs. Also, I've been able to experiment with a lot of different settings since I opted for double adjustables. I have a really great handling car right now that also rides and handles imperfect roads better than the car ever has.

What I don't like:
There is still obvious side-loading of the shock that is occurring and I'm not really a fan of it. I don't have enough miles on these to really tell if it's going to be an issue, but I did make sure that I registered my parts for the lifetime warranty, just in case. I also don't really like the rubber stem bushings capturing the shock in the upper mount. Because of the side loading, the stem rubs against those captured rubber bushings and especially over speed humps, they make a good bit of noise.

I haven't been easy on these and so far they have exceeded my expectations. I still think adding either a SpeedTech Chicane mount or Global West's coil-over mount to the subframe and using a true coil-over is still the best bet. But if you can't or won't do that, I think they are a great alternative.

Thanks Jason. I put them on the 64 vette project. even with the spring all the way down it was had to get them to bolt to the GW lower A arms made for coil overs. Then quite a job screwing it up to get the spring loaded for ride height even with the roller plates and anti seize and moly on it. Not much miles yet as EFI getting sorted out. pondering them on the 65 GTO project and maybe 409 64 impala project.
vasriabel rate spring like some of the first kits were or one set rate?

Global West and QA1 now have double sheer mount lower control arms designed for the hybrid coils. Instead of using the T-Bar, which in some cases can be a pain to get bolted in, you remove the T-bar and use the shock's lower eye instead.

That would likely aid in installation, and I'm told it's positioning also helps with the side loading issue I previously discussed.

I didn't have a huge issue installing these on my SPC arms which have a flat base for T-Bar mounting. However, the SPC arm shock mount location is also altered slightly to help with motion ratio. That may have made it a bit easier to install on my end.

I went with single rate springs. 600lb rate in my case.
