Are Harrison radiators the same for a 70 gto and Firebird. I am doing a 70 bird that doesn’t have a radiator and I can get a gto one but don’t want to buy it and not have it fit

I think the GTO is wider than the Bird.
(and maybe a little taller)

Check with Cass radiators too. Don't depend on just one company. And go with an aluminum radiator. Paint it black if you want but don't go too heavy with the paint.
A GTO radiator is too tall and not wide enough to fit into a Firebird.

The '68-72, actually'73 GTO" radiators are NOT taller than the 3 & 4 core 2nd Gen Bird radiators.
They use the same stamped drivers side tank: IA on the 3 cores, IF on 4 cores.

There are at least 5 different GM Body lines in the late 60's through mid 80's with factory Harrison radiators that use that exact height of radiator tank.
The difference is in the width of the radiator core, its steel rails, & typically the passenger side radiator tank.

Copper, tubes anyway. You can get copper radiator with a newer cooling pattern that is super efficient.
Copper is almost TWICE the heat transfer as Aluminum....

Only the fins in a Harrison radiator were pure copper. The tubes were a copper/brass alloy for additional strength so the heat transfer from coolant to tube was about the same or slightly less than current aluminum designs. It's common to be able to replace a four row copper/brass core with a three row aluminum and have better heat rejection capacity due to three factors: 1) No paint on the fins, 2) More consistent braze quality between identical base metal of tube and fin, and 3) uniform heat transfer rate from coolant to tube to fin.

We went through extensive comparisons on A/C condensers at Zexel for the same reasons when R134A was introduced and serpentine condensers were replaced with crossflow models.

I don't recall if a 70 Trans Am radiator is the same as a 78 but I am actually running a 78 Trans Am radiator in my 71 Lemans driver. It fits in the same place as my original and my original Lemans fan shroud works with it.

70 &up Firebird Radiator is around an inch + or - narrower than the Gto Radiator

Here is how a 78 Trans Am radiator fits in a 71 GTO/Lemans. I bought this radiator new for a 78 Trans Am but ended up using it in my 71 Lemans driver and have been using it for around 10 years now. It fit in my car fine using the factory shroud. I’m not sure how or if a GTO radiator would work in a Firebird as there appears to be a small difference in width but it has worked the other way around for me for years.
