steering box

I have the "Delphi" 525 steering box from Ames. I have two questions.
Shouldn't I be able to turn both shafts by hand?
I also was told by local mechanic that this box will be harder to steer when trying to park the car. True?

Thinking I might have made A mistake buy this:mad:

Thanks, Dave

Many steering boxes will come to you setup pretty tight and will tolerance in with some driving. It wouldn't necessarily concern my a huge amount if you couldn't turn the shafts by hand without any type of leverage on them.

It's a manual box. by nature it's not going to the easiest thing to turn. Adding caster in the alignment makes that worse, so stick to stock alignment specs.

If ease of turning is a requirement, consider switching to a power steering box.
