Holley Jet Extensions and Fuel Bowl Removal
 

First Happy 4th to all!

Second, I have installed Jet Extensions on the Secondary Side of Holley 750 DP (4779-6). However, in order to change jets at the track I need to remove both the fuel bowl and the metering block as the PCV fitting on back of the carb blocks my ability to remove just the float bowl.

Anyone else have this issue or is this normal?

Is it just the tubing or do you have a screw in fitting in the baseplate. I have had some that were tight and even filed a slight notch in the fuel bowl right there. Even a rubber cap makes it tight.

Switch back to a Q-jet and then you only need to remove one little 6/32 screw to swap out the secondary metering rods or move them into a different set of holes you can drill in the rod hanger, or even just shim the hanger up or down and keep using the same set of metering rods.

On a track that’s hooking up like crap you can also slow down the opening rate of the secondary’s.

To keep the Holley you might be able to do this .

Cut off the nipple for the pcv and drill & tap it for a pipe plug.

Then mod the intake so you can drill & tap a new vacuum hole you add a screw in nipple to for you pcv line.

steve25 - I like your modification idea. Will look into that for sure. Nothing against Quadrajet as I am running them on my 71 & 72 street cars, I think I will stick with the Holley for now.

Most times I just remove the carb for jet changes so I'm not spilling gas on the engine. Never fails even if I drain the bowl there is still residual that runs down the intake and stains everything.

I've got carb removal down to a minute or two and just became much easier for me to do it that way, with no mess.

Another option buy and HP Baseplate that does not have the nipple.

Formulajones - a minute or two, you do definitely have that down to a science. It takes me longer than that to get all my tools out at the track, lol.

Skip Fix - thats an idea but hopefully will be needing to upsize the carb (which came with it when I bought it) in the future and will definitely make sure I dont have the same issue with the next one.

Just get a file or dremel and take a little off the edged of the bowl.
