Inner fender dust shield 66 GTO

The rubber dust shield over the upper control arm does it go on the engine side or the tire side of inner fender on 66 GTO?

I also meant to ask are folks fighting spaples or using screws?

My fenderwell seals ('67) are on the tire side, under the fender, and I attached mine with the provided staples. It was a pain in the neck to get them on, but it's worth the effort. I used the original holes in the fender to locate the new holes in the liners. The "staples" were so stiff that I had to hold a large piece of steel (piece of railroad track in my case) underneath and use a small hammer to fasten the staples.

They must have had a super duty stapler to do this at the factory.

Use wire, then cut and bend backwards to look like staples. Stainless wire wont rust either

Another quick question. Which end goes to rear? I am assuming the end that has the narrow tear drop looking end. Is it only stapled across the top?
