Intermediate steering shaft install

I cannot get the upper end mate with the steering column portion that comes out from the firewall. I even tried tapping it in with a 3 pound hammer but to no avail. Is there a trick to this? :mad:

Yeah. The build sheet I found in the car was for the car that was built right AFTER mine, a WS6 equipped Formula Turbo 301 no less! Oh well, if I the car still exists, then perhaps I can track down...

That is a tough one. The parts have been stored in a garage in N.Texas for the past 5 years. Not climate controlled. Any way to verify usability? Can the lines be flushed to see if rust is an issue?

Intermediate steering shaft color

Does anyone have an original low mileage 77-81 to verify the color [if any] of the intermediate steering shaft? I cleaned the one on my car and it appears to black paint on stainless steel. Cheers.

Did the 1979-81 Trans Am models come with hood insulation and trunk mats as OEM? I have looked at many pics and my conclusion is inconclusive. I am almost 100 percent sure the hood had no insulation...

T-top weatherstrip/seal quality

According to Ames and others, the GM originals are considered no longer good due to age of the tooling and therefore not worth the hefty price tag. The only alternative remaining is the aftermarket....

I have an 81 TA. It has no 301T cast anywhere, instead it's identified as 81 T cast on both sides of the block towards the rear.
