Dan had a good dyno session today with the W72 400. He rebuilt the original numbers matching engine with .040" over Icon...

I'm sure the double chamfer in the '70 350 blocks didn't help the compression any, except lower it a bit. 7.9 to 8.0 is probably right on.

I should have mentioned that you rotate the engine so both lifters to the cylinder you're testing are on the base circle (compression stroke). It is a resonance difference between the two extremes....

Barry Martin at Sonic Motors used to repop them. Check with him to see if he still has them. I bought one for my '71 455HO Formula and it worked/looked great.
