Dipstick tube bolts

Hi. Can anyone tell me if the lower dipstick bolts (attaching to main 3, no windage tray) should be grade 5? I've got one grade 5 and one unmarked. Wasn't sure if it mattered or not.

Ok, thanks. It seems the direction of the bevel doesn't matter, as I suspected. Just make sure the alignment is correct and that there are no tiny bits of metal left over to spoil the party.

Unfortunately the block, crank and old bearings are at the machine shop. I don't think the bearings had been filed/ground though.

I think the saddle size must be right or close because shells from one of the other positions snap in just fine. I don't have the block at the moment so I can't do any measuring.

Thanks for the quick reply. All the imprints of the lettering were readable, cap and block, with no smearing - just the same as the others which is why I didn't think it had been moving. Strange...

I've stripped down a friend's 455 +.030 and found on main bearing number 2, both halves have completely lost their tension (spread?) and just drop into their housings. The mains are -0.010. All...
