checked again, car car will drive in second gear okay if stick shift left in second gear, maybe instead of third gear its trying to find reverse is that possible and that why rear wheels lock up...

I have a 65 389 also. Vacuum at 800 rpm is 12-13. Edlebrock rpm with 750 edel carb with one size rod leaner...runs great. also have run the edelbrock 2 X 4 package they sell with the two 600 cfm...
