I think its the other way around, the hardened cam gear eats the bronze gear. I too have been thinking about changing but would like to hear others that have had issues

Have you tried removing the driveshaft rotating it 180. I have heard this working before. Might be something to try before going crazy on moving the diff etc

make sure you get some real good pictures of whatever you buy from this guy as he is out for one thing and that is as much $$ as he can get and sells junk proclaiming it to look new or be very nice....

What Steve said. I would start with the grounds on all the items that are having issues. Remove and clean them and make sure that there is good connection.
