The radio opening in the carrier should look like the pic below. Firebird radios used long pushbuttons as in the pic. Your radio will work, but the buttons will be awkward. As long as factory...

The hole in the carrier has been cut larger. There shoul be a hole the size of the radio lens, and a slot for the buttons. Your buttons look too short.
