lifter bore oil clearance
You can measure the bores using a small bore gauge and a 1" micrometer for the lifter body. I'd rather have them a little tight than too loose. .0015" to .0025" seems to be the normal range.

I am going to say you may find anywhere from 25-70 horsepower from more spark lead and possible fuel tuning. Sounds like a nice engine indeed.

93 octane, less lead and or richen A/F mixture

Don't use synthetic gear oil!
As far as I know, Muncies do not work well with full synthetic oil. I haven't tried it, but thats the word on the street ;)
