What size air cleaner? I had a similar issue on my 64 and it turned out I had too small of an air cleaner and it was starving for air under heavy acceleration.

Need some expertise.

The trunk on my 64 is bound up tight and won't open. Have tried driving around, WD40 in the key cylinder, pressure on the deck, etc. etc. etc. Nothing works.

An ideas...

Interesting, I don't remember having any air cleaner clearance issues with the Edelbrock, I had a 3 inch K&N filter on with that carb. What's different about Quadrajets?

Steve, that's a darn good point, the only air filter I could find that fit without hitting the hood was the Mr. Gasket 1 inch. Would love to hear a recommendation for a filter that works with Q-jet...
