i did oil the balancer shaft before reinstalling. i changed the seal with the cover still in the car....

i dont think it's a cheapo deal - fel pro. i may purchase one from out gracious hosts here and attempt a re-install before thinking about the timing cover adjustment route. perhaps i buggered it up...

still find it strange that it barely leaked before and now i have, while not quite a gusher, a definitive increase.

front oil seal

recently replaced the front seal which had a small leak. old seal was pretty well trashed to the point of the metallic spring a ma thing was coming out of the rubber lip.

now the leak is worse...

unless the cam / lifter manufacturer says something else, that is a typical procedure for setting lifter preload - .050 i believe. i think comp cams recommends 1/2 turn.

i did call up comp and ask...
