My first idea is fuel related. Check pressure. Could be a clogged sock in the tank. Verify that the spark plugs are clean. A Q-Jet properly set up will run circles around the E-Brock carb.

I have had great service from all of my Ryobi battery operated tools. I used them to cut the roof on my Trans AM with no issues. Only one battery failure in 10 years.
