I'm wrong, there was a small 'D' shaped stamping on the housing along with the 5-5. There were 7 furnace brazed 'buttons' like on yours.

Yes, I believe that looks correct if it's a 13" diameter with the furnace brazing. I didn't see anything stamped (factory) anywhere on the convertor, only the green 5-5 painted on it.

I agree with Cliff that a 2802 would be a good choice for a RAIII 400 with at least 9.5 compression. I have a 2801 in a 9.94 to 1 406 (0.030" over 400) and it is pretty tame, idles smoothly and has...

Here is the '68 single snorkel air cleaner on GTO's and 428HO's. The snorkel is longer on these and aren't double flared at the snorkel opening like the OP's unit.

It looks like a '70/'71 B-body (& GP?) short single snorkel housing as it has the small hole for the round vent stack on '70 Calif. cars and then '71 all-states. The chrome lid may have come with the...

X2...however, for what it's worth, my '71 Formula with the stock 455HO (3.42 gears) with the 2801 cam (with a true 8.2 static compression) gets a solid 14 mpg at 65 mph (2800 rpm). My '70 Lemans with...

You'll be fine with the 2.25" outlets. My stock 455HO did pretty good on the dyno (430 hp @ 4900 rpm/535 lb-ft @ 3500 rpm) with factory original RA manifolds with 2.0625"/2.125" outlets, so your...
