My fault for not specifying this in the original post: My carb guy/tuner has the vacuum advance completely disconnected. He says that with the way he has the timing set, it isn't necessary.

Vendors like The Parts Place sell a reproduction of the original 14x6 Hurst wheel. The pictures (and cost!) make them look like a viable alternative to a set of original wheels for my '69 GTO.
