Just bought a mini starter for a 76 455.

I know there are supposed to be shims to make the gears line up, but should the centerline be off by 1/2"? The stock bolts don't have enough thread to bolt...

Not sure if the 12-20-79 is the manufacturing date, since they both have the same date. They both also have the same part number.

Compression Test Results Question

I compression tested my 455. Stock 76 with 6H heads; 7.6 CR. Idle vacuum is about 16".

All but two cylinders were between 125 and 135 psi. Cylinders 4 & 6 were both down about 15 psi; 110 psi (#4)...
