I not long replaced my back up lenses after a little whoopsie. Was a quick simple job as six Pac describes. Once the light is removed the chrome comes away and you can remove the lenses.

I was thinking about this and I remember a old car I had that was running similar to your problem and I found moisture in a couple of h t leads and coil lead. Just a thought.

I had the exact problem as you describe and my problem was a worn hanger bearing. It appeared ok but I pulled it out keeping all the shims in the order they came out in and it had wear and tear....
