I have one of those battery isolator thingys on the GTO. When at the shows, I unscrew the contactor and slip it in my pocket (voila' no electricity), along with the keys. Old GM cars are famous for loose ignition tumblers, sometimes you don't even need keys to start one.
I figure that with the contactor gone, someone has to produce that exact part at the right moment and jimmy the lock to get it started. If they can do that, they've earned it. I firmly believe that locks are there to keep honest folks honest. Crooks are going to steal it unless you weld it to the ground.. nothing you can do against a determined thief with enough time.
