Like before, I'm only "stumbling around in the dark" about possible damage to his engine. But the shop's reference to magnafluxing puzzles me. Magnafluxing is done to find cracks in a piece of ferrous metal, like a block or crankshaft. The piece has to be stripped and cleaned. So, to magnaflux some piece of his engine, is assuming the shop will have done a couple hundred dollars worth of disassembly and cleaning already.
I'm sure this isn't any help to you- just sounds wierd to me.
