I've read through some of the past threads, but I'd like to get specific.
First of all, I am not taking the whole car down to the metal. I am replaceing all of the rust areas which are:
1. New Tail Panel
2. New Trunk floor
3. Patch the Door drain areas (about a 6" x 2" area on the driver underside and 4 x 2 on the passenger side.)
4. New deck lid
5. Some rust repair on the front lip of the hood.
6. Left front fender behind the wheel (about 6" x 6"
7. Front window gutter.

This car was repainted around 6 years ago.
There is good filler work on the rear quarters that I do not want to redo. Front fenders, Roof, and doors look fine. I just want to remove the second coat of paint in the large areas where there is no metal exposure due to rust repair. I will have the the person/company that does the final paint do the primer/filler and block the car out

I have decided to use Dupont paint for my Goat. I went down to a paint supply shop that sells Dupont and talked to a very knowledgable guy. He sugested Using Dupont "VariPrime 615S" to cover my exposed metal surfaces.
I will be applying this to my metal exposed areas only, taking care not to get it on the Evercoat "Metal to Metal" filler I have been using. The Paint shop guy told me not to put this primer over the filler but not to worry if I get a little on the edges of the filler making sure that the "VariPrime" covers all of the metal.
I paid about $60 for a quart of this primer with the activater.

Now for some questions for the paint guys on this forum:
1. Is this "VariPrime" known to be an excellent product?
2. If I get some of it on the evercoat "metal to metal" will it lift? or damage the filler?
3. What is the best(toughest, chip resistant) primer and paint? Urethane? Acrylic Enamel?

I want to stick with Dupont. Anyone here have experience with the Dupont systems? Any recomendations?

Thanks again to all.
